sam1 YouRockRed has been providing consultation and related music services since 2013. Founder Samantha Everts-Matusoff began her career in music 15 years ago by booking punk bands as a teenager in Western Quebec. A Carleton University and University of Nottingham graduate (English and Film), she began working shortly after as an arts journalist with Metro News and Xtra in Ottawa.  Samantha worked her way up in college and FM radio, indie labels, festival management, promotional marketing, and any other means to understand the full spectrum of the Canadian music world.

I have worked with Sam on several projects, from live event management to grant applications and she really knows the ins and outs of the music industry. Any artist, band or label will benefit from checking out her new website.

YouRockRed clients have received significant offers of funding since 2013,  including Polaris-Prize-winner Lido Pimienta, Kalle Mattson, Juno-winner Kellylee Evans and Bleeker. As a consultant, Samantha has helped shape the career of hundreds of artists and industry who have benefited from her experience, honest approach and invaluable connections.
Samantha has been a speaker at  Iceland Airwaves, Canadian Music Week, Indie Week, Canada’s Music Incubator, NOMFA and related educational institutes. She has been interviewed as an authority on music on CBC Radio, Metro News and various podcasts. Samantha has been a judge on national music awards including the Juno Awards and past juror for Factor Canada in the genres of rock, pop, punk, folk and alternative.
In late 2014, she developed a monthly music industry education seminar series with Bluesfest School of Music and Art, bringing in expert panelists to sold-out audiences eager to learn in Ottawa. In 2015 she came on board with CityFolk Festival as project manager for Marvest, a 14-venue off-site SXSW-inspired festival that made international music headlines.
Since 2013, Samantha has been a regular contributor and photographer for Canadian Musician Magazine covering music festivals and award shows, as well as providing long-lead investigative print pieces. On training the next generation of the music industry, she taught Artist Management & Communications courses at Trebas Institute from 2016-17.Samantha joined the team at Coalition Music Records/Management in mid-2017 as the full-time Funding Manager responsible for supporting roster acts and projects including USS, Our Lady Peace, Scott Helman, Justin Nozuka, and more. As a result, she is no longer accepting NEW EMERGING LEVEL-CLIENTS but welcomes consultations and speaking engagements.

Samantha lives in the West end of  Toronto with her husband, two kitties and ever-expanding record collection.

“I will never tire of helping out artists; whether they are recording their debut album or touring Europe for a second or third time. Helping people develop their music and find their audience is the best feeling. I love being able to help new and established artists reach a bigger audience that will appreciate their music and believe in it as much as I do.”
